Hi

I would like to post my recent interest in a Timothy HANAIFIN.

Although Timothy HANIFIN was born in Ireland (probably the Kerry/Cork region and possibly Donaghmore) in around 1811.

He was living in the Aldgate area of Middlesex during 1851, near to the Tower of London, probably escaping the great famine.

Also living with him were the following:

Honora his wife 1811

Mary his daughter born 1831

Timothy his son born 1835

Johanna MURPHY his daughter born 1828

Dennis MURPHY his son-in-law born 1826

Note both Johanna and Dennis gave their place of birth during the 1861 census as Donaghmore, Ireland. I think that they mean the one in County Cork, as the latter was given as the place of born in following census records.

Both Denis and Timothy were musicians by trade (Bagpipes and fiddle), so they are easy to spot in census records.

Timothy appears to have died after 1861, but his son Timothy and his daughter’s family remained in the east end of London for several more decades.

Does anyone reconguise them?

Does anyone have some ideas as to how to trace their Irish roots further?

Looking forward to hearing from you
