This is an interesting fact that I'm not sure if any of you are aware of. If your parent or grand parent was born in Ireland you can gain dual citizenship. My father is working on this right now. It takes a while, Dad has been at it for a year or two, but my understanding is, once it is established, any children you have afterword will receive dual citizenship also. Unfortunately, I won't be eligible because Dad started on this after I was in my twenties. But if you are eligible, it is something to consider for generations to come. Take care, all!

I know that one of my uncles (one of the sons of Mary and Marion Ashley) signed up for a dual citizenship. I believe he did a lot of traveling around the world. He would show his Irish citizenship, whenever he was asked to avoid discrimination he might otherwise receive from being from the US.

MemberActually, from what I've read, you're automatically a citizen if your parents were born in Ireland. If your grandparents are Irish, then you register with your nearest Irish Embassy or Consulate. You can get some interesting information on the process here:
