Hi:
I'm John P. Hanifin located in Tewksbury, Massachusetts son of Patrick J. Hanifin. My Grandfather was also Patrick Hanifin.
He relocated from from the Dingle Area to the Boston, Massachusetts Area.
My Grandfather's brother was John Hanifin highlighted in the article:
"Irish Ways Live On in Dingle"
This article was published in National Geographics Magazine in April 1976.
If you have any information regarding the Hanifin Family from Dingle please forward it to my attention if possible.
I've also heard the term:
The Black Hanifins of Dingle
-or-
The Black Hanifins of Kerry
Does anyone have any information regarding the origin of these terms?

My father was John Leo Hanifin who served as a corporal in The Great War (WWI).
His father was William (C?) Hanifin of Florence, N.Y. He married Hannah Sullivan. He worked for the New York Central Railroad. He or his family emmigrated from Ireland. I don't know boat name or date nor do I know the port of origin but they came to New York City. I have faaint knowledge that their home was around Dingle Peninsula.
I have tried to reach Roman Catholic churches in the Dingle area but don't know how to go about this.
Do you have any relevant info?
