Kim,
I have some Hanifans in WV (notice spelling variant). My GGG Grandfather Morris -or- Maurice Hanifan immigrated to America from Ireland in abt. 1840 before the Irish potato famine. He was born abt. 1820 and died abt. 1868. Morris / Maurice Hanifan settled in Randolph County WV.

Morris Hanifan married Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Kittle and had the following children:

i. ISAAC HANIFAN.
ii. JOHN HANIFAN, b. April 08, 1853; d.
September 12, 1928, Youngstown, Ohio.
iii. PATRICK HANIFAN, b. November 26, 1857,
Randolph Co. Va; d. 1937.
iv. MARGARET ELLEN HANIFAN, b. November 28,
1861; d. Abt. 1910.
v. MARY A HANIFAN, b. Abt. 1866; m. JOSEPH
YEAGER.

My GG Grandfather was Patrick Hanifan. He was born November 26, 1857, Randolph Co. (W)Va; died. 1937. He married Thursey Elizabeth Phillips December 19, 1875 in Randolph County, W Va. One of their daughter was my Great Grandmother Icie -or- Icie Hanifan.

This Patrick Hanifan did have a son named Roy McKinley Hanifan. I have no information on Roy’s descendants (maybe you have this!) As you mentioned, Mary may be a possibility if this is the same family.

My Patrick Hanifan did have a sister named Mary Hanifan.

Would be nice to figure out if we are indeed related. I can E-mail a doc file of the Descendants of Morris Hanifan if you like…

Hope this helps,
Lisa DeBarr
