MemberMy name is Julianne Marie Hanifin..I am the oldest of 5 children of Pat and Marge Hanifin. My brothers and sisters are from oldest to youngest..Patrick Francis Hanifin jr,Theresa Ann Hanifin Hammond,Stephen James Hanifin, and our baby sister..deceased Kathleen Hanifin. Our Grandfather, Patrick Francis Hanifin Sr. was married to Helen Ohara Hanifin. He came thru Ellis Island from Castlemaine, County Kerry. He and my grandmother had 6 children, My father, Patrick Hanifin, John Hanifin, Eugene Hanifin, Timothy, Mary and Eileen Hanifin. They settled in San Francisco, California, in the Noe Valley district..St. Philips Parish.We have a large family here .. I currently live in Redwood City, California I am the mother to 4 wonderful grown children and the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and was so glad to find this wonderful site and to see just how large the Hanifin family really is.. I too was told that the spelling of the name Hanifin was changed depending on who came thru Ellis Island.. My grandfather and his sisters, Minnie, Kate and Julia always argued about the "Proper" spelling.. We spelled ours Hanifin.. I would love to find out more about our families roots especially since my grandfather has passed away and I am unable to learn more from him.. We really miss Nana and Grandpa..they were the "Best" to all of us grandchildren God Bless them and we thank God every day that Grandpa came to America from Ireland and gave us all the very best family in the world.
