   I've hit a brick wall searching my Hanafin roots. My gr. gr. grandfather, James Hanafin, according to the 1880 census, was born in Louisiana around 1842. It also says that both his parents were born in Ireland. However, I can find no information as to who his parents might be. Any and all help greatly appreciated.

   So glad to see your note on the web site. I am great granddaughter of that same James Hanafin through son Cloyd. I'd be interested in corresponding with you and sharing info. I hit the same brick wall.
