Love the web site just discovered it today. My Parents are Jerry (Jeremiah) Hanafin from Ballinloughig ( Near Dingle), County Kerry. - He was a food smuggler into Dingle during the "Troubles" My Mother is Mary Galvin from Doonties, Lispole, Cty Kerry. A neighbor of Anascaul. My father origionally was Hannifin, but changed it to Hanafin when he got to Ellis Island in 1920. Cousins Tom Galvin still ives on the old place in Doonties, Brother Tim is in Wexford. Any other relatives out there?

My gr grandmother Mary Hanifan married Thomas Kavanah around 1876and they had 13 children. John Kavanaugh, one of the 13, is my grandfather. The Kavanaghs and Hanifans both had (and still have) farms in County Kerry, on the Dingle Penninsula, outside of the town of Dingle, near the smaller town of Lispole. The Kavanagh farm is in Reenbee and the Hanifan farm is in Lisdorgan, both "townlands of Garfinny." Both farms still stand and both are still inhabited by either the Kavanaghs or the Hanifans. I did visit two summers ago but at the time the Hanifans were not home, though I spent much time with my Kavanagh relatives (2nd cousins) and my Brosnan relatives (2nd cousins).
Do these names and places ring any proverbial bells with anyone. If so, I would love to exchange more information.

I am trying to help my foster Father, Leslie Humphrey, find an old friend of his called John Hanifin. He was married to a lady called Brinie (sorry if this is spelt wrong). My Dad was a bus driver at Tottenham Garage in London for a number of years and John was a conductor on his bus. I also remember that John did live on Long Island, New York for a while, after leaving the buses, I believe that he run a gardening business while he was there.
