We are also from Kerry but not artfert. I know of Jerry there who also keeps greyhounds. We came from Ballymackelligott outside tralee. As there are very few Hannafins around we must have some connection going back. I would think thatthere are more hannafins in usa than in kerry.

Kevin Hannafin

My Grandfather, Maurice Hannafin, came from Ardfert, Co. Kerry. He had brothers, Michael and Peter Hannafin (or Hanifin) who worked their farm in Ardfert, Farenwilliam, County Kerry. Maurice had two sisters, Mae and Honora (Christine) who moved to the states many years ago. Have been to Ireland once in the early 80s. Am looking for any relatives in Ardfert, or elsewhere, who may know this family. Maurice moved to the US and married Mary Cahill, and they had two children, Richard and Maura Hannafin. When I was in Ardfert in 1984, I met my 2nd cousin, who owned a pub in Ardfert, named Jerry Hanifin.
Any help would be appreciated.
God Bless You All.
Slainte!
Maureen

My name is James M Manning Haymarket Virginia formerly of The Bronx, New York. My Grandmother was Ellen ìNellieî Hanifin. She was born approximately 1872 and married Johnie Nellie OíMainin (Manning) and lived in Terravane, Ballyferriter, Dingle. She died circa 1957 in Terravane. I am told that she had a brother John Hanifin who emigrated to the USA and settled very near Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois. John had at least 5 children. A son Jerry (Gerry) and four daughters. A first cousin of Jerry would be a Reverend Martin Manning from IOWA who has lost touch with this family and its progeny. Do any of the Hanifin Family Trees have a similar thread in same?
